Our November meeting will be at Randy Hodges’ shop in Kill Devil Hills, NC. Here is a message from him:
We’ll start at 9:30 AM with an open forge.
11:00am – talk and demo by me
I want to talk some about my approach to my business and how much value ABANA has had for me. I will display and discuss some of my pieces that are in the Co-op Gallery. This will lead into a demo of some of the products that I make at the forge out of stainless cutlery (mostly forks and spoons)
12:30pm (or after the demo)- Lunch
Mary Ann and I will provide a full lunch; not sure of the menu now. Probably soup, sandwiches, and salad, with cookies for dessert. We’ll have water, tea, and hot chocolate available. (If you’d like to bring something to share the best thing would be coffee and breakfast kind of snacks for the morning time.)
After lunch-
Iron in the Hat (of course)
Trade Item – going to try something new here. The topic will be “something made from cutlery”. Make something out of knives, forks, and/or spoons to bring to the meeting.(Thinking about you Eric.) You’ll get to take home something made by someone else. All trade items go on a table and everyone who brought one draws straws for order of choice.
All day long events-
Tailgating (of course)
Scrap Iron Swap – I’m going to cull out some of the good stuff in my scrap pile and lay it out on tarps. Everything will be up for trade, sale, or giving away. Bring some of your junk to trade or sell, or at least be really to haul off some of my junk. I’m looking for railroad spikes and small used horseshoes. I have garden tools, hand tools, lawnmower blades, anchors, farm items, … to get rid of.
Co-op Gallery – the art gallery will be open all day to check out all my work plus all the other fine artists of our cooperative. You want be able to make purchases in the gallery if you wish.
I hope you will be able to come. Be aware that weather could be an issue for this meeting. There is a minimum amount of indoor space at this location. Please bring something to sit on. If you have questions, send me an email or text.
